Hotel Villa Sofia, an historical 19th century palazzo and now an exclusive first
class hotel, is located in the most beautiful and serene area of Gardone Riviera,
the residential neighborhood with sumptuous Mediterranean villas from the twenties
that were the pride and joy of the upper middle class and the German industrial
barons of the time. The villa, which was built in 1900 and later turned into a
hotel, is surrounded by a large 4,000 square meter park filled with century-old
trees.
In 1902 the Hohl family, hoteliers originally from Davos, a famous mountain resort
town in the Grigioni Canton of Switzerland, moved to Gardone Riviera, which had
become popular tourist destination.
This marked the start of Pensione Hohl, which was run by sisters Berta and Emma
Hohl up until 1951.
The hotel was subsequently owned by the Alton-Roncoroni family, who ran the establishment
until its closing in 2001.
After a meticulous restoration and development project, the completely remodeled
Villa Sofia is now open to the public. While preserving the charming architecture
of the splendid palazzos of Gardone, it nonetheless offers all possible modern
comforts and amenities.
The hotel has a spacious parking lot, elegant Liberty-style common rooms and
a marvelous swimming pool with bar service in the park.
The 34 rooms and Junior-Suites have air conditioning, telephone, satellite TV,
Internet, hair dryer, minibar, and digital safe. The spacious Junior-Suites are

Tasty snacks are served at poolside, and our "Light Lunch" menu features scrumptious
hot and cold dishes.
